I seldom paint roses but once in a while, their beauty captivates me and I find myself painting two or three at once. This painting has a sister painting called Golden Roses On Gold. They form part of an evolving series of works inspired by varieties grown in my own and friends’ gardens.

Painted in rich, thick, impasto style this painting has a highly textured quality and is framed without glazing so the textures as well as the colours and composition may be fully appreciated.
