Original painting in acrylic on board, painted in thick impasto style. To capture the papery petals, I applied the paint using handmade ‘palette knives’ made from recycled milk cartons. This poppy painting was inspired by varieties grown in my garden.

The ‘St Ives’ style white wooden frame is hand built without glazing so the textural qualities may be fully appreciated. The painting is protected from UV light and dust by several coats of professional artist varnish.
