For a touch of luxury, the beautiful poppies, all on the orange/red/pink/purple spectrum, stand proud against its rich dark blue and gold leaf background!

The thick impasto application of paint makes the poppies stand proud and the gold leaf table top gives this painting a touch of opulence.

I have used smooth brushwork for the background and impasto application for the flowers, stems and vase so the viewer sees contrasts in textures as well as in colours.

Currently being framed in my usual ‘St Ives’ style with double frame, hand-built my expert framer without glass so the textures as well as the colours can be fully appreciated. More images to follow.

The painting is protected from UV and dust with several coats of professional artist varnish.
