This is part of an evolving series of poppy paintings inspired by varieties grown in my garden. It has a sister painting called Himalayan Poppies on Pink. I find these more tricky to grow in the UK but had success one Summer, which inspired this small series of work.

The ‘St Ives’ style frame is hand built in Bristol without glazing so the textural qualities may be fully appreciated. The painting is protected by UV light and dust with several coats of professional artist varnish.
