I love the vibrant coloured poppies in this larger painting (almost 1m x 1m). The thick impasto appplication of paint makes the poppies stand proud of the deep blue background and white table top. I have used smooth brushwork for the background and impasto application for the flowers, stems and vase so the viewer sees contrasts in textures as well as in colours. This is a personal favourite!
