Colourful, vibrant poppies are set against the mid, denim blue background to give striking visual contrast. My multi-tonal poppies have been proving popular and they fill me with joy to paint. The thick layers of textured paint are applied in ‘impasto’ style using handmade tools so they stand proud of the background.

The ‘St Ives’ style frame is hand built in Cornwall without glazing so the textural qualities may be fully appreciated. It is made from wood and painted white. The frame is painted pure white.
