The subtle tones of salmon pink and calamine gently blend to a soft crimson against a beautiful silver leaf background which emits a ‘champagne’ coloured glow. The poppies in this larger painting (almost 1m x 1m) are painted in thick ‘impasto’ style which contrast well with the smooth, reflective, metallic background. The texture as well as colours give this painting variety and contrast.
